Trainchild Beginings
Trainchild started on the Palouse in Pullman, WA when our bassist Jon approached me at work. He heard I was a guitar player and wasn’t shy at all about making it clear we were going to jam out and try to start a band. He had just moved to the area and it was obvious he wasn’t going to take no for an answer.

We hit it off right away and started of jamming at a small house he was renting in the tiny town of Garfield. The second thing he was addament about was that we record all jam sessions. While a pain at first, this was one of the most beneficial approaches to creating new music I’ve picked up over the years.
We had great jam sessions and many fun times in that house, but were lacking two important components: A vocalist and a drummer.
Finding a drummer
Separately, I had been visiting a small local pub nicknamed the GoSit more frequently than I would like to admit. One day while sitting at the bar, a humble yet confident regular sat next to me and for about 20 min we sat quietly engulfed in our phones, the TV screen, and our drinks.

Eventually, a few guys walked up to him and started semi-making fun of him and his music. I immediately popped into the conversation, shut them down and started talking about music. He had some mixes on his phone and I learned he was a drummer. His name was Larry, and would later become a cornerstone element of the band.
During our first jam with Larry he brought his drum kit to the Garfield house and we jammed for hours and hours. At one point we heard a ruckus outside and after looking out the window realized that the entire town had gathered around the house in protest of the loud music. That’s when we knew we would be a great band.
Soon Jon moved to Pullman, WA after buying a house and the real band room was born. However, the band was still – and would always – struggle with finding a quality vocalist. We went through many trials, and never landed on a performer that was at our level.

Many of the tracks you will hear on this site have programmed drum tracks. Although Larry was the original drummer of the band, he was much better suited as a second guitarist and had a great knack for making full drum tracks.
I hope you enjoy this ecclectic mix of songs from our band recordings and various live shows. I hope to post more content soon!
