JXB Back Story
JXB is a duo rap group that started in late 2021 after JXross and BDoc met while working at UMass in Amherst, Massachusetts. After a random conversation, both started discussing how they love to rap, but haven’t done so in years.
All their previous rap experience involved dark times and an old way of life. They had put off rapping for years to avoid the violence and party culture long associated with rap music. With both artists now fathers and living a clean life, coming together was the optimal opportunity to give a shoutout to our roots, while also relaying a positive message and encouraging listeners to move away from the dark side.
Pior to JXB, JXross didn’t have access to well produced beats and BDoc didn’t have a solid vocalist to rap over his beats. After sending along a few samples to JXross, they quickly started putting out songs over old and new beats.
Dozens of tracks
The original goal was to write a 14 song album, but the catalog of tracks quickly expanded into well over 40 songs. How to split these songs into two separate albums and a multi-track single release is currently underway and was the major impetus for updating the Bud Production Studios website. Appropriately titled Meet in the Middle, the first album highlights the unique sound that came from mixing a west coast producer and east coast rapper. Although BDoc is featured on some of the tracks, the vocal highlight of this project comes from JXross, who is able to quickly put together lyrical verses and catchy choruses.
